Global Ocean Data Analysis Project V3 released

The most comprehensive and rigorously quality-controlled ocean interior data product for marine biogeochemistry studies, GLODAPv3 enables quantitative assessment of biogeochemical changes and feedbacks between climate change and the ocean. MIT CS3 Principal Research Scientist Ryan Woosley contributed to this upgrade. (OceanICU)

Understanding how “marine snow” acts as a carbon sink

A new study co-authored by MIT Prof./CS3 faculty affiliate Andrew Babbin and MIT CS3 Principal Research Scientist Ryan Woosley finds hitchhiking bacteria dissolve essential ballast in ubiquitous “snow” particles, which could counteract the ocean’s ability to sequester carbon.
