Assessment of Global and Regional Sustainability Challenges

An ongoing project of the Center is to utilize the MIT modeling tools and expertise to identify the global and regional sustainability challenges in the areas such as energy and economic activities, land productivity, agricultural production, biodiversity, water availability, and human health. We explore the links between the Earth system (atmosphere, ocean, and terrestrial process) to the human drivers of global change and to system responses to climate and other environmental impacts. There are substantial feedbacks among these processes, and they matter for informing the design of mitigation efforts and understanding physical and transition risks. By working with a multi-disciplinary modeling, we assess the sustainability challenges and opportunities in the Earth and human systems.
