Fernando's research focuses on studying the implications of a large-scale introduction of renewable generation on electricity systems. Particularly, his research is directed at analyzing how the variability introduced by renewable generation affects the operational regime of thermal power power plants; and its impact on generation capacity expansion planning and investment decisions in thermal units.
